Custom Wedding Illustration

The commemorative art piece I made to celebrate my wedding this summer!

The piece itself was inspired by 16th-century manuscripts I found with beautiful illustrations of curling and entwined vines. I also found inspiration in tarot card designs for the layout. I wanted it to be simple and not too overly obvious.

This image to the left shows the final design with all the colours we used for our wedding day as well! Conveniently, my husband's and my initials after marriage are the same so that made it much easier for the design.

Here you can see some of the other layouts I played with.

From the beginning, I was fairly set on the background design being the twirling vines and flowers, so I didn’t play too much with that design - rather just how our details would be presented on the front of the card.

Despite what I mentioned above, this was a secondary design I was looking at for the main piece because I enjoyed seeing how Ruth Speer incorporates spandrels in their art. Gives some room to further illustrate the story you might be trying to tell. I ended up using this design for the RSVP detail card with our invitations.

I so enjoyed this process of creating something beautiful to celebrate such an exciting time for myself in 2022. I would love to create more of these invitation suites in the future. So, if you’re looking for something custom and special, please contact me!
